            New member, swims length of pool and can do so repeatedly

breathes to side in freestyle, may be weak on other strokes

 

Beluga:

            Breathe on the side consistently

                Familiar with butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke

Practices 1000-1500 yds winter;  1200-1800 summer

                min practice attendance: 12 days/mo- winter  (3/wk)

                                                                    16x/mo- summer

 

Advanced Beluga:

           Ready to being rudimentary workout sets, use the clock, and other Gray Dolphin requirements

all strokes legal;  knows the rules about touches and turns

Bottlenose:

understands intervals

yardage:  2500-4000

min practice attendance:  12 days/mo- winter (4/wk)

High School Conditioning:  basically, same as rec Bottlenose

Committed groups:

 

Gray Dolphin:

            min age: 8++

              10 x 50 SCM without fins

may need some help on fairly simple sets or intervals

            yardage:  2500-4000

min practice attendance:  15 days/mo- winter (4/wk)

                                                     20x/mo- summer

 

Bottlenose:

min age: 11

                8 x 100 @ 2:00 (SCM)

reliable to give a set and have it followed without constant help

yardage:  3500-5000

min practice attendance:  15 days/mo- winter (4/wk)

                                                     22x/mo- summer

 

 

Killer Whale:

            8 x 100 @ 1:40 (SCM)

                can give complicated set and count on them doing it correctly even while talking to another group;  knows most difficult intervals (:25, :35) and has an idea of what the minutes should be

min practice attendance:  18 days/mo- winter (4-5/wk)

                                     25x/mo- summer

 

High School committed:

           Basically, same as Committed Bottlenose and Killer Whale, depending on ability
